Why a travel Blog

Welcome to Bali & Beyond’s Travel Guide! My name is David MacElwain and every year I visit Bali, Indonesia several times to collect and bring back sustainable, re-used and recycled products to Calgary, Alberta through direct trade.

My first trip to Bali was in 1994, this is when I fell in love with the island, the Balinese people and the energy of this place. In 2007 I was able to go back and act on my passion to make a difference in the lives of the Balinese people. Since I started Bali & Beyond I make regular trips to the island and have gotten to know my way around Bali pretty well. Over the years I have built strong relationships with the local Balinese people and have a huge amount of knowledge of how to get around and see the most of Bali in a safe and fun way.

On a daily basis lots of people come in the store asking for travel tips and other information related to traveling to Bali. This blog has been a long time in the making and I’m happy to share with you my experiences during my travels to Bali.

If you have any questions and/or thoughts, please let us know in the comments section. Also if you would like to share your own experiences in Bali, please do! We would love to hear from you!

Lots of Bali love,
